By road Fritton Lake is approximately 21 miles and a 40 min car journey from Norwich via the A146.
By train The nearest station is Haddiscoe (3 miles). Haddiscoe is on the Waveney line which runs between Norwich and Lowestoft (both easily accessible from London Liverpool Street).
Loddon Taxis (01508 321321) or Atlas Taxis (01502 500000) can take you between Haddiscoe or Lowestoft stations and Fritton Lake.
Fritton is adjacent to the southern part of Britain’s finest wetland landscape. Day boats can be hired at nearby St. Olaves.
The Blackpool of the East is easily accessible by the 580 bus. Wide sandy beaches, Venetian gardens, fish and chips, arcades and rollercoasters at the Pleasure Beach.
More sandy beaches and seaside fun can be had in Britain’s most easterly town. Lowestoft is also home to the Africa Alive zoological Park, East Anglian Transport Museum and — rows of instagramable beach huts.
This ancient Roman Fort, built to keep out the Saxons, is set amongst stunning marshland views and a couple of hours’ walk along the Angles Way.
A walk south along the Angles Way takes you to the fine Somerleyton Hall stately home and gardens and Dukes Head country pub.
Norwich, Southwold and the North Norfolk coast all make fantastic day trips by car.
